Current treatments approved in the U.S. for people with atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) generally aim to reduce or prevent the formation of clots in small blood vessels. They target the complement cascade, a part of the immune system that is overly active in people with this condition.

Soliris (eculizumab) is an antibody therapy approved for adults and children with aHUS. It is given by intravenous, or into-the-vein, infusion, mostly every other week, although dosage and dosing schedule vary depending on age and body weight.

Ultomiris (ravulizumab-cwvz) is an antibody treatment approved for adults and children, 1 month and older, with aHUS. It is delivered by intravenous, or into-the-vein, infusion and administered once every 4-8 weeks after an initial loading dose.
